Family identify victim of Greeley nighttime homicide
A 22-year-old woman was kidnapped and killed in Greeley on Friday night and law enforcement officials said they have arrested the person they believe to be responsible.
Just before 8 p.m. Friday, Greeley Police responded to a report of suspicious activity at Noco Nutrition, 1990 59th Avenue. The store appears to have been burglarized and a female employee, 22, who was supposed to close the business, is missing, according to Greeley Police.
Officers arrived at the store to find the store messy and what appeared to be a large amount of blood. The employee’s vehicle also disappeared. Police have not identified the victim, but her family has confirmed her identity as Angelica Vega.
Just after 10:30 p.m., the victim’s vehicle was located near 71st Avenue and 20th Street. She was found dead in the back of the vehicle.
A suspect, identified by police as 24-year-old Marcos Vallejos, was found, arrested and incarcerated in the Weld County Jail for first-degree murder and sexual assault.
