Greek Hotel Has Amazing Overwater Bungalows For Much Less Than The Maldives

A resort in Greece has been dubbed the new Maldives to offer a luxurious stay on the water at a much cheaper cost.

If there’s ever been a reason to brave long lines and commit to a high chance of your flight being delayed, then this is the hotel for you.

The Stella Island Luxury Resort & Spa in Crete has been described as “a Maldivian experience in the Mediterranean Sea” and it comes at a fraction of the price.

There’s nothing I like more than seeing the words “adults only” on a hotel’s website; the offer to be ‘pampered with a variety of facilities and services’ is simply icing on the cake.

While personal training is a nice gesture – who really uses the gym while on vacation? – it’s the offer of five restaurants, a giant swimming pool and a state-of-the-art spa on the north coast of Crete that seduces me.

The ‘Over Water Bungalow’ is one of a host of accommodation options offered by the resort, which has a total of 225 rooms.

The website reads: “These overwater bungalows add an extra dimension to a vacation at Stella Island Luxury Resort: Decorated in wood and glass, set in a tropical landscape, guests have direct access from each terrace to sunbathe on the swimming pool. The bathroom consists of a walk-in shower and double sink.”

Depending on the time of year you visit, the price of an overwater bungalow can be as low as £299 per night, which, while still quite expensive, is a much more affordable option for those dreaming of vacations. luxurious. in the Maldives.

In mid-October the cost rises to £341 a night and £648 during school holidays.

If you’re looking to spend a little extra cash, there are also rooms such as the Large Overwater Bungalow with Jacuzzi, the Private Island Villa Pool, and the Premium Pool.

And if the resort is not enough for you, a multitude of activities are available to you nearby, from trekking to horseback riding, through scuba diving, to monuments and museums for the less active in between us.

The resort has an “Excellent” rating of 4.5 out of 5 on Tripadvisor.

One visitor said: “Having stayed in many 5 star hotels across Europe, Stella Island does not disappoint. The reception staff are very attentive and despite other reviews suggesting otherwise, the check in process was was quick and easy. We stayed in both an overwater bungalow and a private pool villa which IMO is much more private and worth every euro for the pool alone…”

They concluded: “Guest relations and management staff, in particular George Syrmos, are extremely attentive and will handle all issues professionally and courteously.

“I can’t find any reason if I’m being honest why we wouldn’t go back to Stella Island.”
