Written by Steve Orlando (“Wonder Woman”, “Justice League of America”) and injected with epic artwork by Agustin Padilla (“Dungeons & Dragons”, “Suicide Squad”) and colors by Jeremy Colwell, ” King Grimlock “throws one of the most iconic characters of the” Transformers “into a realm of fantastic monsters and mystical powers.
In a brutal world where the strongest reign with sword and iron, the fierce Grimlock discovers a new opportunity to prove he is the strongest who ever lived. But as Grimlock and the human barbarian Arko quickly learn, sometimes sheer brute force isn’t enough.
“’King Grimlock’ is a dizzying dream coming to life, a story so big and so wild that I wasn’t sure the ‘Transformers’ universe could contain it,” said Orlando. “It’s a one-of-a-kind science / fantasy epic for fans new and old, whether you follow the animation of the ’80s, the modern shows of the’ 00s, the big screen blockbusters, the decades of amazing comics, or if you’ve been intrigued by the Grimlock figures on the shelf. Everyone is welcome! “

Cary North is the Eisner Award winning artist of Marvel’s “Conan the Barbarian”, and here he delivers the perfect cover of the first issue to complement the high fantasy theme of “Transformers: King Grimlock”. Additional variations will be offered to retailers and fans, including Cover B by series artist Agustin Padilla, and a retail incentive edition featuring art by Mateus Santolouco.
“By spotlighting a beloved character like Grimlock in an epic barbaric fantasy, Steve, Agustin and Jeremy create an iconic story that expands the understanding of who Grimlock is and what a Transformers story can be like,” said the editor David Mariotte. “Plus, a two-story robotic T-rex fights dragons, wizards and monsters, which is awesome.”
