Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne reveals reason for Chelsea move to Wolfsburg
The Belgian midfielder joined the Blues from KRC Genk in January 2012 but was loaned to the club until the summer. When he arrived it was clear he was not in the first team photo.
This resulted in a loan transfer to Werder Bremen in the Bundesliga and ultimately a permanent move to VfL Wolfsburg in the winter transfer window of 2014. His time at Chelsea was not productive.
De Bruyne did it right 5 departures in all club competitions. The midfielder then relaunched his career at Wolfsburg and moved to Manchester City, where he became one of the best midfielders in the world.
A big mistake
And after 7 years of leaving the club, the 29-year-old maestro has revealed why he made the decision to leave Stamford Bridge and if he regrets that decision.
“I decided to leave because I felt I didn’t have a chance to play at the time. I didn’t see more opportunities coming, so for me it was the best decision to leave Chelsea and go into a situation where I felt I could start over.
He said it was a low point in his career at the time, but he is happy that things turned out the way they did.
“Did I expect it to turn out like this?” Obviously not because at that time it was a low point in my career but I never doubted my abilities as a football player.
