Elevation Semiconductor has launched two high-efficiency power ICs with smaller footprints for fast charging solutions.
The HL9510 and HL9512 are flyback PWM controller ICs that operate in QR mode to dramatically improve system efficiency and power density. These ICs provide constant output voltage regulation through the optocoupler feedback controller or shunt regulator and incorporate high voltage start.
Their protection includes VDD-OVP, brownout protection, DMAG-OVP, DMAG-UVP, OTP internal IC and SD thermal external IC.
The brown-in voltage is programmed by an external DMAG pin resistor and provides a wide VDD operating range to cover variable output mode applications including USB-PD/PPS or conventional DP/DN protocol communication. Its protection is also implemented with the automatic restart mode. The VDD-OVP, DMAG-OVP, and External SD Protection can be configured with auto-restart or latch mode, and the DMAG-UVP can be configured with auto-restart mode or long auto-restart mode.
The HL9510 is created to integrate an internal HV start circuit, while the HL9512 can be realized by the AUX and ST pins of the external MOS combo IC.
The HL9510 is offered in a 10-pin SOIC package, ideal for USB PD/QC portable device battery chargers, high-efficiency AC/DC power adapters, and fixed or variable output voltage power supply. The HL9512 comes in the same package and is perfect for smartphones, tablet PC battery chargers, portable device adapters, and indirect power supplies with low and/or variable output voltage.
