SNAC International appoints new CEO
Based in Arlington, Virginia SNAC International is experiencing a change at the top, with the appointment of Christine Cochran as the next President and CEO of the professional association. She will succeed Elizabeth Avery, who is retiring from her position as head of the organization.
Cochran, who earned a law degree from Georgetown University, will join the company in February 2022 and officially begin his new role next April following the SNAC education and coloring meeting. She brings a wealth of industry experience to the leadership role, having most recently served as Executive Director of the Grain Foods Foundation. Previously, she was President of the Commodity Markets Council.
“Christine Cochran is a dynamic leader of member organizations with an in-depth knowledge of nutrition and a proven track record in government advocacy, coalition building and strategic planning,” said Mike Harper, Chief Financial Officer of Based in Lima, Ohio Rudolph Foods, who chaired SNAC’s CEO search committee. “We believe Christine is the right leader to build on the momentum created by Elizabeth’s very successful tenure.
Avery has served as President and CEO of SNAC International for the past five years and has been commended by the Chairman of the SNAC Board of Directors for his efforts. “Under his leadership, SNAC has grown in all dimensions and has never been in such a strong position. Its innovation and growth agenda has led to a tripling of investments in education and professional development; increased effectiveness and recognition of leadership in advocacy; greater inclusion in the industry for the participation of new companies and various leaders; and a bold restructuring of the industry convention that responds to the need for new opportunities to collaborate with the snack industry. Despite the challenges of the pandemic, membership is at an all-time high and the organization has an extremely solid financial base, ”said Rob Sarlls, Chairman of the SNAC Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer of Marion, based in Ohio Wyandot snacks.
