Gemini Stallions Sweet Lady (Fr) (Lope de Vega {Ire}–High Heel Sneakers {GB}, par Dansili {GB}) posted a career high at October’s G3 Prix de Flore in Saint-Cloud and lined up for the G3 Prix Corrida from Tuesday on the same 10 1/ A distance of 2,400 meters at the Paris site, coming back from a second place in April’s Lord Seymour Listed Prize at ParisLongchamp. The 5-2 second favorite adopted her usual patient tactic and positioned herself out of tempo in fifth for the most part. Pushed along to close with 500 yards remaining, she smartly accelerated to launch her challenge as she entered the final furrow and was taken out in the closing stages to assert her superiority. The winner of the Prix La Camargo Listed last season and the fourth G1 in the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches took the line half a length ahead of Burgarita (UK) (Sea The Stars {Ire}).

“She’s a very intelligent filly who is much more mature than she was last season,” said trainer Francis-Henri Graffard. “We did well to run him over a mile and a half last time to teach him more about how to settle in and the experience has done him a lot of good. We also made the right decision to move on to the G3 Prix d’Hedouville and to wait for this race. If only because we avoided fast soils and hot temperatures. The softer, the better for her and we are convinced that the second half of the season will offer her more opportunities. She will be registered with [G1] Saint-Cloud Grand Prix here and the [G1 Prix] Jean Romanet in Deauville, but there won’t be any rush to race if the conditions aren’t right. the [G1] Yorkshire Oaks is also a possibility and of course it is listed in the [G1] Arc de Triomphe Prize. We’re going to take the time we need to decide what’s next and for now, she’s added to her CV and we’re delighted.

Sweet Lady is the latest reported colt produced by Listed River Eden S. victrix and G2 runner-up High Heel Sneakers (GB) May Hill S. (Dansili {GB}), who also produced Listed Oaks Trial winner Always The Love (GB ) (Authorized {Ire}). Sweet Lady’s third dam, Charmie Carmie (Lyphard), is the dam of Peruvian champion MG1SW Faaz (Fappiano) and her offspring also include Zaitoon (SAf), the classic heroine of the G1 SA fillies (Comte Dubois {GB}). Charmie Carmie is related to Chris Evert (Swoon’s Son), heroine of the triple crown of the American fillies of MGISW, whose own descendants are led by the sire Chief’s Crown (Danzig), GI Frizette S. and GI Gazelle S. heroine Classic Crown (M. Prospector) and MGISW double GI Beldame S. victrix Sightseek (Distant View). Charmie Carmie is also related to third GI All Rainbows Delaware Oaks (Bold Hour), herself the dam of GI Kentucky Derby heroine and US Champion MGISW Winning Colors (Caro {Ire}).
